as a political economist-turned-journalist-turned-jeweller, ute decker is a pioneer of the international ethical jewellery movement and one of the first, worldwide, to create jewels in fairtrade gold. ute established the world’s largest – and free – online resource on green jewellery practices on her website. used by thousands of students, jewellers as well as consumers around the world.

in 2018 the incorporation of goldsmiths, scotland used this vast resource as a basis for  www.ethicalmaking.org which it continues to expand.

in this session, ute will talk about her work, philosophy and ethical approach.
