I am thrilled  a selection of my sculptural jewels will part of Elisabetta Cipriani’s presentation.

Elisabetta Cipriani Gallery is delighted to announce its first participation in the 13th edition of Salon Art + Design 2024, New York. With an eclectic selection of wearable artworks, the gallery is proud to present jewels by world-famous visual artists, as well as experimental creations by exceptional jewellery designers. It will be a unique opportunity for collectors and art enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of wearable art – from classic masterpieces to bold experimentations.

Among the twenty artists on display, we are thrilled to launch an exclusive collaboration with incredible American artist Michele Oka Doner. The collection comprises five one-of-a-kind Winter Branch brooches, a bronze Talisman pendant, a sculptural necklace, Nightflight, adorned with huit-huit old cut diamonds, and a treasure box, Mitosis, in limited edition. The pieces reverberate with the talismanic elemental energy that distinguishes Oka Doner’s practice and places it among the most magnetic and evocative works in contemporary art. Meticulously crafted in bronze, old-cut diamonds, 18kt gold, silver, and electroformed bark – a beautiful piece of wood that she retrieved from the Hudson River upstate many years ago –, each piece serves not only as an adornment but as a conduit to nature and the soul, offering collectors a unique fusion of artistic beauty and spiritual resonance.

We are also proud to present an unprecedented selection of jewels by Giampaolo Babetto. As one of the most influential exponents of the Padua goldsmith school and avant-garde jewellery, Babetto’s pieces are corporeal architectures made of gold. The pieces come alive through the incorporation of ethereal and vibrant materials such as glass, niello, resin, and velvet-like pigments of luminous primary colours. Each jewel is a geometrical kaleidoscopic composition that possesses its own life and creates a symbiotic and unique aesthetic relationship with the wearer’s body.

Then we are excited to present stunning pieces by Italian artist Giorgio Vigna – iconic works and new creations that the artist made to celebrate the fifteen years of collaboration with the gallery. Intertwining gold, South Sea Pearls, volcanic lava, silver, copper, gemstones, and magnets, each work celebrates the idea that jewellery is like Nature – a metamorphic revolution of colours and shapes. Under the same roof, we will present new pieces by internationally acclaimed visual artist Jaqueline de Jong, who sadly left us in June. Pommes de Jong epitomises experimental jewellery: shrunk potatoes electroformed in gold and platinum. A selection of these one-of-a-kind pieces of art jewellery will simultaneously feature in De Jong’s solo show at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale.

Speaking of new collections, we are thrilled to launch Lilian Lijn’s most recent magmatic creations in gold and silver inspired by the ancient landscapes of Pompeii. Her pieces evoke the textures of cliffs and crevices found in volcanic terrains. The silver highlights intricate details that contrast with the smoother, gilded surfaces of gold. Each pendant and cuff reflect different moods and landscapes, offering a tactile experience that engages the wearer in a multisensory interaction that shifts with light and movement.

Lastly, we are honoured to showcase rare works by incredible sculptor, collagist, and painter Sophia Vari. Her wearable works are a celebration of creativity, craftsmanship, and devotion. “Sophia Vari’s Wearable Art embodies the essence of today’s woman – sophisticated, practical, and unique”, remarks Elisabetta Cipriani, “her ability to combine wood with noble metals gives birth to bold geometric forms that theatrically change with the movement of the wearer’s body; each angle unfolds a story”, remarks Elisabetta Cipriani.
